What's So Great About Fresno, CA?
I have a few friends from the west coast who seem to enjoy talking down about Fresno. But I have one long lost friend named Sarita from there who is very cool and she loves it there.
From blogging, I have run across some very cool people whose profiles show them to be from there as well. And if I recall correctly, I listened to a Fresno based radio station online for a while (lost the link, though).
So, Fresno folks. What do you love about your city?

i dunno...but my Gma lives there...and it works for me... :)
peace...
ok... here's the deal about Fresno.
It's a middle sized city with a big city mentality going at a small city pace...
It's centrally located so if you wanted to go somewhere it's only a few hours away...
AND...
I'm seeing TOOL in Fresno Sunday night! Plus there are some other big name bands that are here playing.
The Rogue (thanks Lecram) Festival rocks!
Performance theater is booming with 3 new theatre companies starting up just in the past year...
What more could you want to ask for???
Sure dealing with the 100+ heat sucks, but we have learned to deal with it. :-)
I've lived in Fresno for the last 25 years. (BTW... thanks for the cool person link.) I will say that in the past 5 years there has been a ground swell at least in the cultural sector (that's also influencing others) that's been occuring here... so it's a pretty exciting time.
Before that I'll have to admit that it seemed to be perpetually stuck between the worst of the 50's and 70's eras. It also had quite a "cow-town" image because agriculture was (and still is) the primary business. Though because of that along with this new swell... it's sort of like that new, quirky, cool kid at school.
Oh and... there are 87 languages spoken in the county.
I am so happy that Fresno is enjoying a cultural boom, because that is what it mostly needs.
What do I hate about Fresno? It's too damn hot, a giant freeway runs through it, and like all cities, has more than it's share of crime, drugs and pollution.
What do I like about Fresno?
It's really close to Bass Lake, North Fork, and Yosemite!
Solitaire and Marcel of course!!!!
XXXXX
I love my town, but homes here cost upwards of $500,000. (We rent).....There are not too many bad things to be said about Sonoma County.......I live in Paradise!
Have a lovely day M!
I got nothin' but love for Fresno....
How you doin' sweetie? I've missed you!
